Three years ago Katie Quinn Davies, a trained graphic designer, was working as an Art Director in design studios in the US, Australia and her native Ireland. After a successful 12-year career, she stopped—and started taking photographs.
By specialising in food and lifestyle, Katie was able to combine her passion for photography with her love of culinary preparation and styling. Within two years she had a client base that included Penguin, Real Living magazine, Martha Stewart Living, Food + Wine NYC, ACP magazines and Tourism Victoria.
But the project that presented the most drastic change of her mid-career shift was her acclaimed, internationally recognised food photography blog, What Katie Ate. Exercising complete control, from raw ingredients to finished shot, Davies produces photographs that emanate a rich, dark warmth, the food resplendent and fascinating.
